To Willow’s response, Futoto initially said nothing other than a content chuckle, beginning to dig into his own cooking, starting with a barbeque skewer! While eating, he gave everything within his peripherals a quick scan; he nodded towards Hisonzai in acknowledgement in passing, studied the paranormal hunter and his boyfriend exchanging words with Shirara, then over to the two assassin’s in faint confusion, and finally over to the cloaked healer and his snake in the waters! After realizing that everything was rightfully okay, Futoto turned back over to the aeromancer with a smile and a simple question in his gruff, deep voice.
“Can I ask what are you reading?”
Meanwhile, Yukoko effectively forced himself to swim over to his little Nagana with what he’s learned so far. With a bit of struggle - even occasionally fighting himself to stay afloat and accidentally inhaling some water - the cloaked healer arrived at the rock his lover rested upon, clinging onto it with exhaustion and expelling out the water in his tubes
“I… ah, I d-did it! Yamiei, I did it! Hah!” Yukoko cheered in the middle of a coughing fit, ending only after a few seconds. “I did it! S-Sorry f-for taking so long… b-but I’ll g-get better with enough practice, I hope! D-Did I do well?”
Back on the beach, Koruru rolled onto his side and listened in to what Saffron had to say about Shahra, also quite displeased from what was said! Thankfully, the assassin’s struggles weren’t to be shared alone, to which Koruru also chimed in.
“Hey, Saffron? You know what you do with those kind of people? You ignore them. They’re nothing! They’re like an obstacle, right? So we just go through it, or even better yet, walk around it. Ignore it, like you said!” The marksman gestured with his finger, curving around an imaginary barrier. Afterwards, he finally sat up and extended his arm out with a smile. “We’re taught to overcome those, you know? Someone like Shahra, as cute as he is, I don’t think he likes me either. It’s whatever, anyways.”
After being pulled up, Koruru dusted off residual sand that may have clung onto him, asking with his kept, enthusiastic smile. “Now, Saffron? What would YOU like to do?”
While Hisonzai returned with the young mechanic’s food, Shirara bobbed her head into a nod - agreeing with Shahra for once - but not without something to say about that!
“You’re right, yes. We just met Saffron, and that rude fox-boy, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to let him conduct anything malicious, Shahra. If he’s on the team, then Kyororo most likely chose him for a good reason.” The combat medic intensely stated also defense, not even giving Hiruru and opportunity to speak! “If you think we’re going to let him harm our team members, then you’re absolutely wrong. And let’s say that he does? It won’t go without proper repercussion. That’s completely intolerable in our environment.”
“Sheesh, we get it, Shirara. Jus’… calm down, alright? Thanks for… carin’ or somethin’, I guess.” Hiruru finally got a hushed word in, hoping to end their exchange before it reacted into something more worse! Soon, Shirara left the two alone with a silent stare, going back to her business.
And once peace and tranquility reigned between him and his hunter, Hiruru exhaled a deep sigh, lifting his head to face his beloved. “…Least we ain’t gotta deal with that soon, right? Jus’ me and ya’ on the road. Whatever we wanna do…”
“Oh, this ol’ thing…” Willow turned the book over in her hands, running her slender fingers over the spine. Odd glyphs inlaid in shiny blue popped against the leather cover, denoting an alien look. “This is actually a copy of a field journal put together by one of my favorite mages. He actually lives off-planet… I’d given it to Shahra as a gift, and it seems he’s kept it in good condition,” She noted with a fond smile, opening up to the first page. The author was depicted in portrait with an epithet below in those same glyphs; he was an odd alien, humanoid, but with smooth, rounded features and translucent, almost glass-like skin.
“I couldn’t help but notice, though… are you interested in magic?” She asked, glancing up from her book hopefully.
Reaching down to pat Yukoko’s back with some concern, Yamiei only relaxed when he was absolutely sure his mage was absolutely okay, finally masking his anxiety with a relieved grin! “You did great!” He chirped, leaning down to kiss his lover’s forehead. With a calculating glance, he noticed it would be just a little too deep for Yukoko to touch the bottom here… but he wasn’t going to mention that aloud. “Come on up, uh…. there’s a good view here~!”
To Koruru’s reassurance, Saffron was almost taken aback! The sniper was so earnest with his advice, it caught him right off guard! Okay, cool it, calm down, he told himself, helping Koruru to his feet. “What would I… um. I’m not really sure,” the assassin admitted, swallowing down what he truly wanted to ask for. “I’ve… never been to the beach before. Not for pleasure, anyways, always for business… this has been a treat so far, however.”
Shahra was simmering in indignant anger, at first wanting to explain just how profoundly Saffron had destroyed part of him, how many times he’d tried to kill him, but… he slowly calmed down with Hiruru’s reassurance, even grabbing his hand to pet the stress out. “You’re right,” He whispered, finally leaning against his saboteur’s shoulder with a soft exhale. “…I guess if Saffron’s here, then the tavern will be a little safer to visit… yeah, we can keep better tabs on him this way…”
